Balance, Using Holistic Healing to Restore Vitality

We've all experience the ups and downs of life—some more than others. Hopefully, at some point, we get tired of trying to make sense of it all and seek alternative measures. The reality of rising cost of healthcare, has forced us to take responsibility for our wellness. What hinders us is our conventional way of thinking—we don’t understand the power we possess internally.  Instead of reaching inward for absolution we put our trust in external forces.  Some of us use drugs, sex, mental withdrawal and other forms of escapism to put a Band-Aid over the bullet wound.  Allowing low innergies like: stress, depression, envy, fear and lack of confidence to rule our daily existence.  Participating in the building of low innergies does nothing but lead you to an inevitable suicide. How do you feel daily? Is it hard for you to get up in the morning?  Are you weak and irritated?  Have you gained weight and can’t seem to get rid of it?  Before you run to the local drug store looking for answers, turn inward to search for the solution. What is going on in your life? Most importantly, are you creating it?

Our bodies are more intelligent than we think. When we are off balance our bodies tell us what to do. The problem is most if us ignore ourselves. Mostly, out of lack of education. Plain and simple—we don’t know how our bodies work. Pay attention to your discomfort. Ask yourself questions like: When am I affected the most? What is going on in my environment? When did I start having symptoms?  Our body is like a sponge--it absorbs everything. That’s why it is necessary to clear your body from toxins and other unhealthy materials.  There are many healing therapies that can aid in the restoration of you health. Healing methods like Energy work (Reiki, Chi-Qi-Ki, Chakra Balancing), Bodywork (Reflexology, acupuncture), Herbal Healing (Ayurveda) and tons of others. The following are other methods you can use to began you holistic journey:

Food

The foods that you eat also play a big part in your health. Foods high in sugars and carbohydrates can produce low innergies in your body. Meats high in fat or toxins can make you feel sluggish and heavy. The utensils you use to prepare your food may also be a factor. Pots and pans made with lead based materials fuse with your food contaminating striping your food of its nutrients.  Implementing small changes like using clay, glass or cast iron pots can make a tremendous difference in your energy.

Exercise

Daily exercise is also essential. Exercises like Tai Chi and Yoga give your body the balance and vitality to operate at the maximum of your abilities. When your body is full of toxins, stress, and unhealthy amounts of fat you are creating pathway to discomfort, self-esteem issues and obesity. Thus, increasing your chances of manifesting dis-ease in your body. Exercise gives your body the strength it need to help fight off impurities.

Natural Cleansing

Masking your body’s natural cleansing mechanisms based on convenience will only hurt you in the long run.  Little nuances as runny noses and sore throats are your bodies’ way of cleansing. When you take medications to stop the symptoms you’re prohibiting your body from excretion of harmful toxins. Rely on natural remedies such as ginger, garlic and herbal teas to provide comfort.

The Earth has blessed you with natural tools—including your own personal power to heal yourself and others. I assure you once you have a clear understanding of your body—healing it will come natural. Take responsibility for your own health.  After all who knows you better than you?

Unloading Your Shopping Cart

As I write this blog, I wonder if you get the full concept of what “Unloading your shopping cart” is all about. First, let me clarify, I am not describing taking a trip to the supermarket and the art of unloading groceries into your car. What I am speaking of is how stress affects your body and ways to cope.

In my book, Women and Business: The Secret World of Lipstick and Power Suits. I explain how stress feels to me and many other women around the world. For example, close your eyes for a moment (of course after you’ve read the next couple of sentences); imagine a woman all decked out in her “Power-suit” and nice designer heels pushing a shopping cart. As she moves through life, she’s picking up junk she finds on the side of the road, painstakingly adding to her existing pile. Eventually, her cart becomes overloaded; all the garbage begins to fall out, to make matters worst; she’s pushing the cart up a hill. Most of us become so consumed with our day-to-day life that we are unable to remove the trash from our minds.

We allow family members, bosses and other situations determine our day. If you would take a second to internalize the situation, you will see your “problem” as a lesson. Most times the solution comes to you by way of inspired thought; if not, the next step is so easy… let the Universe worry about the why’s and what’s. Ask no questions, your job is to pay attention to inspired thought. Giving your problems the Universe shows TRUST. In return, the Universe will bless you with peace, happiness and abundance.

Before I write I always relax by listening to music. This morning I decided to let the songs on my MP3 player shuffle for more variety. As Keri Hilson sang her ballet, I paid extra attention to the lyrics. All I kept hearing is, “This love is taking all of my innergy.” I thought to myself,” This is a perfect example of how low innergy makes you feel!

There have been several times, that I wanted to climb under a rock and hide from the world. The reality of the situation is there is no escape. Can you see how that is impossible? It’s impossible to hide from YOURSELF. Stop exhausting yourself by entertaining “low innergy (i.e. Depression, anxiety, envy or jealousy) and the take first step toward changing your life.

Depression

As women, we are mothers, sometimes fathers, businesswomen, football coaches, teachers… etc. Just as your body gets tired, so does your mind. A common misconception about depression is if someone is suffering from some kind of depression they’re crazy. According to experts, there are 17 million people that suffer from depression each year. Depending on your culture, your odds will double to more than the majority. Over their lifetime 20% of women, experience some type of depression. Surprisingly twice as many women than men experience some type of panic disorder.

Each year more women report feelings of depression and anxiety to their Doctors. Depression and Anxiety has become the pink elephant among most people. Today’s society puts a huge strain on women. Physical appearance did not used to be as important as it is now. Coping is a huge part of progression, not only in your career but in your life as well.

I believe one of the reasons that women fail in their careers is that they refuse to take care of themselves. As I said earlier, you are the most important person. Get your mind right ladies! Until you can handle whatever it is vexing you, you will not move forward. I know it is easier said than done but sweetheart you have to make the choice. No one else can make it for you.

My Situation-For years I suffered from depression. There were days that I could not get out of bed let alone go to work. My depression was so severe that it affected everyone around me. I went to therapist, psychiatrist, and everyone else with an “ist” behind their profession. Medications did not work for me. I did not like the feeling of being medicated. Eventually my problems started to pour into my professional life. I had to make a decision fast. I made the choice to deal with what I was feeling. It was the best choice of my life. After years of being a prisoner of my mind, I decided enough was enough. I knew I wanted to change my life; I just did not have the tools that I needed to break free. I received my first dose of awareness in 2006, with the book, Think and Grow Rich, written by Napoleon Hill. I was so fascinated with the fact that I had the ability to change my life by virtue of positive thinking.

The Decision that Changed My Life

One day, while at local books store, I struck up a conversation with a woman admiring the books the shelf beside me. She began to talk about a movie that had just become available on the internet. The woman went on and on praising the movie, saying it was the best thing that had happen in her life. I listened as she gave a very detailed description of the movie and its narrators. I was surprised to hear, the movie sounded a lot like the book that I was reading at the time. We had a very lengthy conversation, as we spoke more and more people became attracted to our communication. Before we departed, she handed me a folded slip of paper with the web address and insisted that I watch the movie. I opened the piece of paper after I had gotten home that night, the paper read, “Go to www.thesecret.tv to change your life” Once I received my first dose of Metaphysics, I took it and ran with it. The power of intention is a real. If you’re upset about your present situation, change it! You posses the power, but only you can make the choice. Love yourself enough to dismiss “low innergy” Feel good about everything in your life, so you can receive more of that feeling. Once you realize, being peaceful and blissful, is all the universe wants for you; everything else will soon follow.

For those of that have made the choice, here is a word of advise…Patience is a virtue. Please don’t expect a complete transformation of your mind, body and spirit, to happen over night. Remember, you’ve been programmed for years to think as you do. You’re not going to know the answers to every question. You have to recondition yourself and commit to your spiritual development. I have been on my spiritual journey for years and I still have a lot to learn. Truly getting the concept comes from practice.

How to Receive Your Bliss
Two days ago I sat in the car with my teacher/ friend Khayr. We were having a conversation about negative innergy, and how low innergy, affects the people around you. My dear friend said something that really stuck with me. He said, “The only people that can upset me are the ones I love, everyone else gets nothing but sheer bliss from me!” Wow! How powerful is that?

There are things in this world that you shouldn’t even be bothered with. You must first deal with the inner-you before you can attempt to change anything beyond that. There are solutions for everything. You cannot make everyone happy. When you realize that you can not fix everything and everyone, you can exhale and let go. Everyone on this planet has their own lesson to learn. Acceptance will alleviate a tremendous amount of stress from your body. There are things you have to let slide off your back. Refer back to Khayr’s statement above. Why are you giving up your power?

Remember, the purpose of this guide is to give you the facts, not to candy coat things for you. Figuring out your problem may involve really looking deep inside yourself and your past. Take some time to self-assess. Most women do not understand how their problems affect everyone in their household, even their pets. When I went through my episodes, my dog Ashleigh would pay extra attention to me. It was almost like she was watching over me. I thank the Universe for her everyday.

Leaving Your Baggage at the Door

We all have to deal with personal problems. Some of us deal with them on a daily basis; your kids getting in trouble at school, marital problems, car breaking down, or financial problems. The truth is, most of the problems that exist in our lives are a result of decisions we have made. Let me explain- if you know that you car has a problem that needs to be fixed, but you put it off for months, you can’t get mad when your car breaks down. Getting upset is not going to solve the problem. You have to seek alternative measures. Going out in public and being mad at the world is not only unhealthy for you; it is harmful to your business. My adage is “You never know who people are”. You may go into a meeting and come across a person that you cursed out in the grocery store last week. Be mindful when you are in public interacting with people.

Healing Your Body

If you are dealing with stress, the best thing to do is to try relaxation techniques that will calm you. As women, we tend to take on many roles: mothers, wives, doctors, therapists. It is impossible to take care of others if we are neglecting ourselves. Look to Holistic Healing as a natural method. Holistic healing means taking a holistic approach towards treating imbalances in your life. What set holistic healing apart from traditional medicine is health isn’t the main objective. Yes, going to a tradition may be necessary for treating dis-ease in your body. You are probably wondering what dis-ease means. Dis-ease is used by the wellness community to describe an imbalance in the body. Instead of claiming the aliment, holist practitioners, like a client to alter their words to give them more power over their current situation.

Physical illnesses are symptoms of an imbalance that may not have a cause in the physical. Holistic healing deals with the whole person not just certain sections. Holistic healing is really a lifestyle approach. The holistic approach goes far beyond the Mind-Body connection of finding and maintaining wellness. Overall wellness AND "wholeness" is highly valued. All parts of a person's life (physical healing, mental health and wellness, emotional well-being, and spiritual beliefs and values) are considered. Taking a holistic approach involves seeking the tools that will help us attract our desires and find personal power.

Types of Healing Therapies
• Aromatherapy
• Ayurveda medicine
• Natural diet
• Exercise
• Counseling
• Herbal remedies
• Homeopathy
• Acupuncture
• Naturopathic medicine
• Bodywork (reflexology)
• Energy-based therapies
• Prayerful intention
• Chinese medicine (Tai Chi)

My Situation: As I have mentioned before how stress has been a real dilemma in my life. Not long ago I met a person that practiced Tai Chi. I had heard of this form of martial arts before but I didn’t know that it had healing properties. I was very apprehensive at first but I told myself, “The first class is free. If I don’t like it I won’t come back.” I learned to meditate the first day and I must admit I felt a hundred times better. I also learned how to breathe effectively. As my Tai Chi instructor explains, when you don’t breathe effectively it causes you to have anxiety. It can be especially bad for those of us, like me, who talk all the time. Through Tai Chi, I have become well balanced and do not allow small inconveniences to interfere with my happiness and contentment.

Where to Find Help
You may need a coach to guide you through the jungle, if you lack confidence. Juju Mama (http://www.jujumama.com/) has a wonderful program called CN28 (see in 28 days) where she and her husband Rakim help you manifest your goals through encouragement, meditation and positive affirmations. I participated in their program and reached the goals I put into the Universe, you reading this blog is a result of my commitment.

In order, to adequately administer holistic healing you will need to hire a skilled practitioner. There are several ways to find holistic healers in your community. The best way would be to perform a search on the internet. Who you choose is at your discretion; however I recommend Khayr Love for Reiki, Reflexology, Tai Chi, Qi gong and much more, visit his site at http://www.relaxationisthekey.com/, for a detailed description of his services.

In closing- remember, commit to becoming happy. Don’t entertain “low innergy”. Practice being radiant everyday regardless of the situation. What you will find is, you will attract the things you need. Trust in your ability and begin to receive the abundance that is rightfully yours.

Changing Your Life

One of the most important parts in my book, Women and Business: The Secret World of Lipstick and Power Suits is chapter one: Choosing to Change Your Life. I believe the concept of changing current situations in our lives, derives from a simple task--making a decision. We all have the ability to change our situations, and it's so easy! If your dream is to be a businesswoman, than you have to think like one. How will you succeed in business, if you can't commit to changing your innergy (inner-gy, the power within), so you can receive the power you need to succeed? Our male counterparts are successful because they limit their emotional attachment to situations. LET GO of your past situations and allow yourself to be blessed with new beginnings. Like I said before...IT'S EASY, how? I'm glad you asked...

  • Make a Plan- Setting goals will keep you focused on the main objective. Set a time frame in which you would like to see your goals met. Then, if you do not meet them in the time you have allotted for yourself don’t get discouraged.
  • Keep it Positive- The most powerful tool that you could ever possess is positive innergy. If you are having, problems encouraging yourself try using affirmations. Write encouraging thoughts or quotes in places that you go everyday (i.e. mirrors or refrigerators). Remove negative thoughts and influences from your life. Those people or thoughts will block the blessings that are headed your way.

  • Stay Faithful- Have faith in what you are doing. Constantly doubting what you are doing will make things harder than they have to be. Find something to believe in. It doesn't matter what you believe in whether it’s God, the Universe or Buddha; the important thing is that you believe in something outside yourself, something you can give your fear and apprehension to. It is my solemn opinion that if you are not spiritually inclined you will have a hard time dealing with adversity in your life.
  • Ask For It - William Arthur Ward said it best, “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it.” Remind yourself constantly about your dreams and ambitions. You can do anything that you put your mind to. How much do you want it? Make a “wish board” containing images of what you desire the most. If you enjoy writing, start a daily journal where you write your perfect life story leaving out no details of what you desire. Those of us that are spiritual might also spend some time praying or meditating on what we really want from life.
  • Be Selfish- It is OK to be selfish sometimes. If you do not rest your mind, how can you truly think clearly? I am sure that you have had days that you are cranky or your mind and body do not feel right. I am here to tell you that you have overworked your mind and it is trying to tell you to slow down. Take 15-30 minutes to meditate before you get out of bed. You should always start your day with a clear mind. If you are unable to meditate in the morning, then meditate at night before you go to bed. When you choose to meditate is not too important. What matters is that you actually do it.

Making up your mind is the easy part. The hard part is continuing to believe in your dream enough to fight for it. “Fighting” might mean working late nights and long days. Getting yourself in the habit of applying positive innergy to situations, takes time and practice. You have to recondition yourself to look inward, stop worrying about the external things around you. Remember, Change starts with you!

For example: If your views on business are," Women always get taken advantage of in business by men", constantly thinking in a negative manner will eventually bring your thoughts to reality. The things you say, wait for you in the future to catch up. State your affirmation in the present,"I trust myself enough to make conscious decisions in my life, NOBODY has the POWER to take advantage of me!" The above sentence changes the innergy of the statement. Not only does the statement empower you, it satisfies the universe by bringing you closer to your divine purpose in life. Feel good! Creating prosperity in your life, requires you to utilize the gifts you were blessed with. Dig deep within, get to know who you truly are. Listen to yourself. If after careful thought, you still feel good... go for it! Don't wait, the time is now.

Keeping YOURSELF grounded, will ultimately bring about blissful manifestations. Do yourself a favor...change your innergy, take possession of the life you want. It's worth it!
